Getting Cricky With It! Surprise Blog Hop!

Welcome the “Getting Cricky With It” Surprise Blog Hop for Kristal!!!

Today the Design Team is bringing you some very special projects created for our wonderful and amazing leader Kristal! Our term is almost over and we wanted to show her just how much we appreciate ALL that she has done for us this term. The projects that we will be sharing with you will also be sent to Kristal. We encourage ALL of her fans to join in on the fun as well! Be sure to add your card/project to the link below and then be sure to mail it off to her!

If you've hopped along from Cristel then you are in the right place!! If you are just joining me from your dashboard, or reading this via email, please be sure to CLICK HERE to start at the beginning with Kristal's blog (you'll want to catch up on all the FUN!!)...

Each of Kristal's stamp sets benefit charity. At least $1 per stamp set goes to benefit the charity noted on the stamp set package. So you can feel good that each time you purchase a K Andrew Designs art stamp set, someone around the country is receiving some good help!

K Andrew's stamps are all made and assembled here in the USA, which is very important to Kristal. This ensures all product materials are safe and that jobs are being provided and maintained here in America.  You can learn even more about Kristal's stamps (and pick some up for yourself) by visiting her online store: K Andrew Designs:

Today I created a banner to send to Kristal that she can hang in her craft room if she wants.  I wanted it to remind her that she makes a difference in many peoples lives with the work she does as a designer, blogger, teacher and mom.  I used the Amazing You stamp set because it is so fitting for this project.
I cut the banners from the Lovely Floral Lite cartridge and the letters from the Storybook cartridge, one of my favorites!  The rosettes were just made from strips of paper and the toppers in white were also just strips that I used a border punch on and the scored them and folded them over the top of the banner kind of like a matchbook cover. I chose to use the word JOY on the banner because that is what designing for her brings me...JOY.
Kristal has been extremely inspiring to me.  She creates stamps that are easy to use and easy to incorporate into my projects.  Not just cards but I have used them on home decor, scrapbook layouts and even in my mixed media art.  She is a full time teacher and single mom and still makes time to make us feel wanted and needed.
Kristal has been a blessing in my life.  I have had a really hard year at work and I virtual quite papercrafting but making it on the design team has forced me to create/carve out time for myself to be creative which has been a great outlet during stressful times.  She is generous and genuine.
Kristal is AWESOME!  how can anyone deny it~~~Kristal Andrew...YOU ROCK!  LOVE YA GIRL!

I hope you enjoyed the project and that you will support Kristal in her personal business by purchasing a set or two of her stamps.  you help her, help a charity and make yourself happy with a new treat just for you!  Win~Win!  :)

Now, on to my project.  The theme is "Cabin Fever" so I created a memory game using the cute owls in the stamp set.  It is called "You Whoo!"  :)  It makes me smile.

The cards were printed and cut on my Imagine machine using the Blast Off! cartridge.  I printed 20 of the 8:10 rectangles built into the Imagine sized to 2" and filled each one with a different pattern.  Then I turned them over and stamped 2 cards to match, using 10 different owls.

The "You Whoo!" was stamped using the Owly Hoo Sentiments set.  So fun!
Thanks so much for stopping by, blessings,

Owly Hoo Preview Week - Day 3

Hello Everyone!
Welcome to preview day 3.  If you are new today I should tell you what's up!  The design team from Getting Cricky blog is working this week to show you just how awesome and fun K. Andrew stamps are.  We each have chosen a different set of stamps to feature all week long leading up to the "U R So Sweet Blog Hop" beginning this Friday!  It is going to be awesome!  I have chosen the Owly Hoo sentiments stamp set and have also been using the Hooty Owl art and accessories set.  You can find them HERE or by clicking on the stamp set below.
Today I decided to use the stamps to make a few tags to put on Valentines for my husband and kids.  They are each very different, but so are the people :)

The black and white tag was made by printing the background paper using the Vintage Damask Cricut Imagine cartridge and I got the lips from the Love Struck regular cartridge.  The tag with the sentiment printed on it was built into the Imagine.

The pink tag background paper and the heart shaped paper also came from Vintage Damask then I used the Owly Hoo stamps to stamp "love" on the background paper.  That is one of the things I like to use stamps for, is to alter paper or use for making my own patterned paper, which I will show you tomorrow.

The yellow tag was made with the Best Friends  Imagine cartridge.  This whole design is in there, I jsut cut it with layers, put it together and stamped it.  Easy peasy!!!
Here is the stamp set that I used.

Owly Hoo To You Week! (There will be prizes!)

Hello everyone!
It's about time I got back to crafting and this week is going to be F.U.N!  The design team at Getting Cricky will be having a U R So Sweet Valentine Blog Hop beginning Friday, January 20. THIS is preview week!  Participating DT members chose a set of K. Andrew Design Stamps and will be using that set to create a project everyday this week beginning TODAY!  We want to show you just how versatile the K. Andrew stamps really are.  So here we go...I chose the Owly Hoo Sentiments, art and accessories sets. There are actually 3 seperate stamps sets but coordinate together.  They are so cute with precious owls, many sentiments and cute stamps so you can play dress up with the owls!  For those Cricut owners out there, they are PERFECT for the Hoot -n- Holler, Give a Hoot, Create-a-Critter, and Campin Critters plus many others with owl images.  But as you will see as the week goes on, you don't need owls at all.  The sentiments can be used many other ways.  Be sure to leave a comment for a chance to win a prize at the end of the week!  I will be giving away, to 5 lucky winners a K. Andrew stamp set of your choice!!!!! Read all the way down to see how you can have many chances to win.
So here is the first project I created with these sets.
I thought I would kick off the preview week with a valentine project, although they all won't be valentines.  For all the colors and the background paper I used the Cricut Imagine cartridge Berries and Cream.  I just LOVE the colors and patterns cartridges for the Imagine.  The "Love" heart came from the Groovy Times cartridge and the hearts were built into the Imagine.  Of course, the owl and the other words were from the K. Andrew stamp sets below.  Just click on any of the images to be whisked away to her store.  There you will see her oh so wonderful new Valentine stamp sets which you will have a chance to win in the blog hop next weekend.

Merry Christmas Banner!

Well!  It is good to be back!  My laptop was stuck at work and my photos were stuck in my iPad so now I ma ready to show you what I made right after Thanksgiving.  I don't know about you, but crafting has been at the bottom of my to do list with all the shopping, choir performances, parties and let's not forget craziness at work!  Oh well, all part of the excitement I suppose.
For Thanksgiving I made a "Blessings" banner that hung in my dining room and my husband just loved it.  I was so excited he liked it because he normally has no opinion about such things.  So when he asked me to make one for Christmas I jumped on it.
This turned out  to be a not so good lesson in color theory and how not to use too much pattern, etc.
So I began by cutting a banner out of the red then a large star from a pretty pattern paper that contained all the colors I wanted to include. (See at this point, I thought I was doing real well choosing paper...)
If you look closely you will see a scalloped circle but from a great yellow/gold paper with music on it backed with a green shadow.  I LOVED this music paper and it was to be a sort of "feature" of this banner.  Well, then I cut the letters, using Cindy Loo out of the same red paper.  Turns out...too much red.  It all kind of blended together and when I first hung it up you couldn't read the letters AT ALL!!!  I was so bummed!!!!
So my daughter suggested outlining all the letters with red stickles and I thought YES!!!  That will save them. So SHE painstakingly outlined each one with a perfect thin bead of Christmas red stickles.  She is awesome and only 14.
I thought that was the solution but you still could not read the letters. There just was not enough contrast so I cut out the large white snowflakes from When It's Cold Outside and put them behind the letters and it helped immensely as you can see below.  I then tied each banner together with jute. I know it looks good from close up and I do really like them but ...
As you can see below, still a problem from a distance.  SO...then lesson here would be to use a higher contrasting color for the letters, not the same paper as the background.  I will probably re-do this while I am off for Christmas break and I think I will make the letters a golden yellow or white, or maybe a green, hhhmmm, I think I am going to have to do some experimenting!
I hope you enjoyed it anyway and were maybe inspired to create your own Christmas banner.  Let me know if you do, I could use some pointers :)
I can't leave without mentioning that Kristal at Getting Cricky will be having a Snow Much Fun blog hop coming up on December 16th with great projects from our wonderful design team.  I hope you will join us.
Blessings,
Jana

Now, I have to admit.  I took the easy road on this project but I am glad I thought of it.  I bought these cute little frame ornaments almost 5 years ago on clearance at Hancock Fabrics for only 25 cents each!  They have been in the packages collecting dust until now!  They are the PERFECT little frames for K. Andrew Stamps.  I still have 5 more yet to make to hang on our tree but seriously they took like two minutes for each one!  I almost, ALMOST feel guilty for how easy they were to make and I think they turned out really cute.  It was way easier then trying to size photographs to fit in them. :)

Here is a little sampling of what they look like up close.

I know my photography leaves a lot to be desired but I am learning.  Shooting shiny things is hard!  I hope you are inspired by my project.  Thanks so much for stopping by and enjoy the rest of the hop!
Blessings,
Jana

Bountiful Blessings Blog Hop

Photobucket

Welcome to the Bountiful Blessings Blog Hop!

We Are Thankful for so Many Things & Wanted to Share our Many Blessings With You!

Thanks for joining us for this Bountiful Blessings Blog Hop Hosted by Jens Digi Stamps.  If you've hopped along from The Fantastic Sue, then you are in the right place!! If you are just joining me from your dashboard, or reading this via email, please be sure to start at the beginning with Jens Digi Stamps (We wouldn't want you to miss a THING!!)

Here is the project I made for the hop.  Kind of literal when it comes to the blessings theme but I have been wanting to make a banner for a really long time.
I hung it in our dining room.

This is also the first time I have made these types of rosettes and they are super fun and easy.  But I do want to make a suggestion.  USE HOT GLUE!!!  I sat there and held each rosette to the circle backing until my craft glue dried!!!  Duh!!!  No wonder this took all stinkin' day!  I could have finished it in half the time, but might not have been nearly as proud of the hard work I put into it.  Naaa!  I would have had more time for other projects!  OK, anyway. (Calming down now :0)
The banners are cut at 5.3 inches from Elegant Edges and filled with a pattern from Enjoy the Seasons. And the letters are cut from Plantin SchoolBook at 2.8 inches.  I made the rosettes by cutting two strips 1 1/2" x 12" scored them every half inch on my Martha Stewart Scoreboard, accordion folded the strips and then glued them end to end and then mounted them on a 1" circle punched from black cardstock. (All this in case you never made one, like me)
Here is my digi stamp from Jen's Digi Stamps.  I really liked this one with the basket overflowing.  We are super blessed here at our house and are thankful daily for all God has given us.  I thought this digi was very appropriate for this blog hop.  I colored it with my Copics of course.
This and the next few pictures are of the leaves that hang down from each banner.  I had each person in the family write on 3 or 4 leaves what they were thankful for or what they considered a blessing in their life.  I LOVE that my 14 year old daughter put "school"!  That really makes me smile even if she and my 10 year old daughter wrote them all upside down :)

Of course with out Jesus giving His life on the cross, we would not have all the blessings we have today and more over, we would not have our place in Heaven.  I agree with what my husband wrote on this leaf.  I am thankful for the salvation I have through Christ Jesus!

I also want to say that I feel blessed by all the friends that I have met here in the blogsophere.  Thanks so much for stopping by today!

Fight Like a Girl Blog Hop

I just wanted to remind everyone again of the "Fight Like a Girl Blog Hop" that begins today over at Jen's Digi Stamps Blog. The hop will last all week and there will be random winners chosen to receive prizes.  For details, check out the hop starting at Jen's Digi Stamps Blog.

Although I have not officially begun as a design team member (but will this week hopefully) I wanted to create a card using one of the new digi stamps in honor of one of my sister's in Christ, Kristi.  She has fought and won the breast cancer battle and just had surgery last Thursday to remove a very large and cancerous portion of her liver.  She is a fighter and has put her faith in Christ to get her through.  Here Kristi...this one's for you!!!

I'm not going into details on how I made it, I want you to join the blog hop!  So hop on over to Jen's and get started.
Blessings,
Jana

I'm on a Design Team!

I am so excited to be on my very first design team for Jen's Digi Stamps.  I have been wanting to get better with coloring using my Copic markers so now I HAVE too! :)  My "If the Broom Fits..." card secured me a spot on Jen's team and now I have to get busy.  I also wanted to let everyone know that Jen's Digi Stamps is hosting a Blog Hop starting tomorrow.  I hope you will participate.  Click on the picture below to join in on the fun!  I don't think I am part of it since I am so very new on the DT but I will certainly be hopping along tomorrow night after my daughter's volleyball game.

Check back later today to see a new project I completed yesterday.  I think you will like it.
Blessings,
Jana
