Owly Hoo Preview Week - Day 4

One more day until the "U R So Sweet Blog Hop"  - Whoo hooo!  I can't wait to see what everyone has made for Valentines.  I just finished my blog hop project and I think you will like it.

Today I wanted to do a bit of an experiment with my K. Andrew stamps.  Yesterday you saw that I used the "Love" stamp to create a tone-on-tone background, well today I thought I would try embossing a background.  Now some of you experienced stampers are probably saying "big deal!" but I am just trying to show another way to use a stamp rather than just one whack! - stamp and then your done! :)
Here is the little card I made using the Owly Hoo sentiment stamps from K. Andrew Designs. I also used the Hooty Owl art image stamp for the background, which I did first.  I just stamped the image repeatedly, sprinkled one color embossing powder, tapped it off, then stamped again and then used another color.  I used 3 colors for the owls and then yellow for the stars.
Here is a close up.  I used the  Hoot N Hollar lite cartridge for the owl and then a stamp for the hat and noise maker.  I wouldn't say this is my best design but it showed that the idea worked and looks good.  I think this would make a good card for a child's birthday.

Here is the stamp set that I used.

Owly Hoo Preview Week - Day 3

Hello Everyone!
Welcome to preview day 3.  If you are new today I should tell you what's up!  The design team from Getting Cricky blog is working this week to show you just how awesome and fun K. Andrew stamps are.  We each have chosen a different set of stamps to feature all week long leading up to the "U R So Sweet Blog Hop" beginning this Friday!  It is going to be awesome!  I have chosen the Owly Hoo sentiments stamp set and have also been using the Hooty Owl art and accessories set.  You can find them HERE or by clicking on the stamp set below.
Today I decided to use the stamps to make a few tags to put on Valentines for my husband and kids.  They are each very different, but so are the people :)

The black and white tag was made by printing the background paper using the Vintage Damask Cricut Imagine cartridge and I got the lips from the Love Struck regular cartridge.  The tag with the sentiment printed on it was built into the Imagine.

The pink tag background paper and the heart shaped paper also came from Vintage Damask then I used the Owly Hoo stamps to stamp "love" on the background paper.  That is one of the things I like to use stamps for, is to alter paper or use for making my own patterned paper, which I will show you tomorrow.

The yellow tag was made with the Best Friends  Imagine cartridge.  This whole design is in there, I jsut cut it with layers, put it together and stamped it.  Easy peasy!!!
Here is the stamp set that I used.

Owly Hoo To You Week! (There will be prizes!)

Hello everyone!
It's about time I got back to crafting and this week is going to be F.U.N!  The design team at Getting Cricky will be having a U R So Sweet Valentine Blog Hop beginning Friday, January 20. THIS is preview week!  Participating DT members chose a set of K. Andrew Design Stamps and will be using that set to create a project everyday this week beginning TODAY!  We want to show you just how versatile the K. Andrew stamps really are.  So here we go...I chose the Owly Hoo Sentiments, art and accessories sets. There are actually 3 seperate stamps sets but coordinate together.  They are so cute with precious owls, many sentiments and cute stamps so you can play dress up with the owls!  For those Cricut owners out there, they are PERFECT for the Hoot -n- Holler, Give a Hoot, Create-a-Critter, and Campin Critters plus many others with owl images.  But as you will see as the week goes on, you don't need owls at all.  The sentiments can be used many other ways.  Be sure to leave a comment for a chance to win a prize at the end of the week!  I will be giving away, to 5 lucky winners a K. Andrew stamp set of your choice!!!!! Read all the way down to see how you can have many chances to win.
So here is the first project I created with these sets.
I thought I would kick off the preview week with a valentine project, although they all won't be valentines.  For all the colors and the background paper I used the Cricut Imagine cartridge Berries and Cream.  I just LOVE the colors and patterns cartridges for the Imagine.  The "Love" heart came from the Groovy Times cartridge and the hearts were built into the Imagine.  Of course, the owl and the other words were from the K. Andrew stamp sets below.  Just click on any of the images to be whisked away to her store.  There you will see her oh so wonderful new Valentine stamp sets which you will have a chance to win in the blog hop next weekend.

Bountiful Blessings Blog Hop

Photobucket

Welcome to the Bountiful Blessings Blog Hop!

We Are Thankful for so Many Things & Wanted to Share our Many Blessings With You!

Thanks for joining us for this Bountiful Blessings Blog Hop Hosted by Jens Digi Stamps.  If you've hopped along from The Fantastic Sue, then you are in the right place!! If you are just joining me from your dashboard, or reading this via email, please be sure to start at the beginning with Jens Digi Stamps (We wouldn't want you to miss a THING!!)

Here is the project I made for the hop.  Kind of literal when it comes to the blessings theme but I have been wanting to make a banner for a really long time.
I hung it in our dining room.

This is also the first time I have made these types of rosettes and they are super fun and easy.  But I do want to make a suggestion.  USE HOT GLUE!!!  I sat there and held each rosette to the circle backing until my craft glue dried!!!  Duh!!!  No wonder this took all stinkin' day!  I could have finished it in half the time, but might not have been nearly as proud of the hard work I put into it.  Naaa!  I would have had more time for other projects!  OK, anyway. (Calming down now :0)
The banners are cut at 5.3 inches from Elegant Edges and filled with a pattern from Enjoy the Seasons. And the letters are cut from Plantin SchoolBook at 2.8 inches.  I made the rosettes by cutting two strips 1 1/2" x 12" scored them every half inch on my Martha Stewart Scoreboard, accordion folded the strips and then glued them end to end and then mounted them on a 1" circle punched from black cardstock. (All this in case you never made one, like me)
Here is my digi stamp from Jen's Digi Stamps.  I really liked this one with the basket overflowing.  We are super blessed here at our house and are thankful daily for all God has given us.  I thought this digi was very appropriate for this blog hop.  I colored it with my Copics of course.
This and the next few pictures are of the leaves that hang down from each banner.  I had each person in the family write on 3 or 4 leaves what they were thankful for or what they considered a blessing in their life.  I LOVE that my 14 year old daughter put "school"!  That really makes me smile even if she and my 10 year old daughter wrote them all upside down :)

Of course with out Jesus giving His life on the cross, we would not have all the blessings we have today and more over, we would not have our place in Heaven.  I agree with what my husband wrote on this leaf.  I am thankful for the salvation I have through Christ Jesus!

I also want to say that I feel blessed by all the friends that I have met here in the blogsophere.  Thanks so much for stopping by today!

Doggie Walk Time!

Gilby's Craftster Blog Hop
If you are already on the walk then *Good Blogger*, Yay!!  I'm glad you are here :)   Ok, are the doggy commands too much ? Hehehe...just trying to get into the spirit of the walk!  Tiki got dressed up for the occasion, hope you like her pretty bow!
I loved the theme of this "makeover" walk because it made me start thinking of a project I have been putting off for....about....uuuummmm.....7 years now!  :O  Yep, I am quite the procrastinator, especially for big projects and this is one of them.

About 8 years ago, my husband and I embarked on a journey to create a true home for our family.  Everyone thought we were nuts and honestly, at times, we thought we were nuts too.

We took a house that was built in 1906 and that had not been lived in for almost 40 years, removed the entire roof, cut it in half and moved it to our land in the country.  As you can see in the top photo, IT WAS A MESS!  I won't bore you will all the details but I will say that this picture actually makes it look pretty good compared to what it really looked like.  It took me, my husband and both of our fathers 14 months to renovate this house and now, 7 years later it has become our home.  I hope you enjoy my makeover project because honestly, the house needed it.  After the pictures and description you will find more info about the Doggie Walk so scroll on down!

For this project I used only white paper and the Country Carnival Imagine cartridge and a few pop dots here and there.  I have been wanting to use this one for a while.  It is not really my aesthetic but I think it goes well with the vintage feel of the house.  I plan on using Vintage Damask and Vintage Papers in this new album I will be creating that will record the entire process of the renovation.  It's quite a story and I will be sharing it here as I slowly work on it between other projects.
This is what the house looked like as it sat in the little town we moved it from.  This pic was taken about two years before we moved the house.  It got a lot worse looking in those two years.
There was an antique climbing rose bush that grew in front of the long wrap around porch when this house sat in town and the house mover was kind enough to dig it up with a huge root ball and set it aside so it could be planted along side the house in it's new home in the country but over night someone stole it right off the sidewalk!  The nerve of some people......anyway, I thought the roses on this cartridge were nice and paid homage to the beautiful roses that once were in front of the house.  I now have 5 rose bushes beside the house :)
Here is the house after we finished.  What a change huh?  This was about 3 years after we moved in since we had grass!  Before then there was nothing but dirt and cactus!  We are really proud of our home and even the cactus and mesquite that surround it.
The house cut came from the Handy Man Lite cartridge, which was a perfect cartridge to buy for a house renovation project.  I plan to use it a lot also.  I used Crystal Glaze and Stickles to make the door look like the door on our house.  These letters were cut with all the layers but the ones on top were cut as one layer.

I hope you enjoyed the project and are inspired to make over something.  I would think long and hard before you choose a house to make over!  Ever since, we have said if we had it to do all over again, we would build from the ground up!  But there is no fear of that, I'm not moving.....ever!!!!  :)

Now more Doggie Walk info and by the way, Tiki, my sweet Llaso just HAD to be a part of it when she found out Gilby and Princess Penelope got to play too!  There may be other sweet pups along the way also.  I wanted you to know that as you are frolicking through all the blogs on the walk, that for every comment you leave (there can be 16 total, one on each blog) then you are entered to win one of the puppy treats listed below.  That's 16 chances to win!!!!  There will be 7 winners, now how awesome is that!???  I would love for you to become a follower and then leave a comment and a way to get in touch, good luck and have a howling good time!
Tiki has been drooling over all the Puppy Treats and incredible sponsors for this walk.  Check them out!
